This was our last meeting at Gracious Street Methodist Church Hall when we had a day with Catherine Chew consulting with work on Calico Gardens. Most members were involved in this workshop when we were shown how to add padding and depth to our work by Catherine, using cardboard, felt and old tights(washed of course). We also looked at new stitched which we had not used before Spanish knotted stitch being one of them. We all had a spare hoop to practice our new stitches before adding to our gardens. Trial stitches. After a few weeks work, not completed yet, hope to do so by the exhibition. Our next meeting will be at Bilton Community Centre in Harrogate on 9 June from 1 until 4.30. See you there.
Our workshop this month was led by Sue A who displayed her array of packages she had made using different techniques, using silk fabric with beads, sequins and embroidery for decoration. We began by making the shapes using paper before moving on to using fabric. I only managed to produce two paper packages. The example on the left begins with a circle and the other from a square. I hope to have some finished packages to show on the blog soon.
